May 7 - 12,  2023 and October 15 - 20, 2023 at the  Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Facilitated by Anne Altvater, Ulla Frederiksen, an amazing herd of horses, and the breath-taking land that Sylvan Dale calls home.

  • consider your beliefs from another perspective, a more unitive awareness to help support a more balanced energetic field

“Horses are magnificent healers. They filter our energy system, ground our presence, and show us aspects of ourselves we may have forgotten. The awareness that comes from this exploration is transformative, life changing, and comes to each person in the most perfect way.” ~ Anne Altvater

Your Retreat Experience

Your retreat will be held by Anne Altvater and  Ulla Frederiksen. We will be guided by horses, nature, and everyone's own self-agency

Anne...

...will facilitate transformative interactions between you, the group, and the horses. She will assist you with reframing old beliefs into new possibilities, opening portals of guidance, wisdom, and supporting your self-actualization.

Ulla...

...will bring her many years of experience as a therapist to create emotional safety for deep transformation to be possible in the group. She will also bring her art supplies for those who choose to use "messy art" for self expression and integrating our experiences.

Anne and Ulla in partnership with horses and nature invite you to creatively explore new ways to live an intentional  and purposeful life.

DAILY SCHEDULE

The daily schedule for the retreat will be structured so that each woman has ample time for reflection and integration of activities.

A typical day at the ranch consists of group and private time that includes:

  • Time with a herd of horses:  meditations, reflections, journaling, and being "led" by them
  • Learning specific techniques to activate  your self-agency
  • Afternoon trail rides, hikes, and naps
  • "Messy Art" - a freeing expressive way to integrate experiences
  • Evening conversation, meal times, campfires, and quiet time

"My goal is to bring peace, creativity and healing to you, and together we can bring peace, creativity and healing to our communities and the world.”

~ Ulla Frederiksen

    About Your Retreat guides

    Anne Altvater

Growing up with horses made Anne who she is today – a skilled horse woman, an award-winning riding instructor, a compassionate energy healer, and an intuitive equine therapy practitioner. Through her personal experience and decades of professional practice Anne has seen how horses open people’s hearts and minds to insights that they may not be able to imagine on their own.

Anne has been training horses and riders for 30 years. Since 1999 she has owned and operated Campbell’s Lane Farm in Preston, Maryland. At the farm Anne and her team have trained horses and coached riders who have gone on to earn ribbons and develop self-confidence. Campbell’s Lane Farm is now the home base for Insight Equine Therapy and Anne’s practice of transformative healing.

Anne studied massage therapy at the Southeastern School of Massage in Jacksonville, Florida.  A 2003  graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing she combines high-sense perception and hands-on techniques to help clients discover the psychological, physical, emotional, and spiritual blocks that create “dis-ease” in their lives.

In 2020 Anne became a founding steward of The Starcast Alliance…a conscious engagement of Nature, Animal, Human and Cosmic Intelligences.

    Ulla Frederiksen MA., LLP

Ulla is a psychologist,  ARCH certified group facilitator, teacher, and artist. Her private practice, The Sundance Center, specializes in client-centered, solution-oriented and trauma-informed therapy for Highly Sensitive People.   Ulla also co-founded Red Horse Center for Collaborative Leadership, www.redhorse.red , a nonprofit organization contributing equitable access to personal and professional development, mental health, and community wellness.

Ulla lives close to nature with horses, dogs, chickens, cats, and goats and loves to share this peaceful world. She strives to create a safe, fun, and non-judgmental space for insight and healing to take place.

Ulla received  her master's degree in Psychology from the Center for Humanistic Studies (now Michigan School of Psychology). She has been in private practice since 1993 and has facilitated with horses since 2001. Ulla has trained equine-assisted facilitation around the world since 2010.

Ulla is also co-creator of Arenas for Change (ARCH), a worldwide organization that supports and educates professionals who incorporate horses in mental health, organizational development, and education.

Insight Equine Therapy seminar and retreat clients say...

"Anne is the voice of reason. She always gives it to me straight with no chaser, which is just what I need. I just feel my blood pressure drop when I look into the horse’s eyes.”

“With the help of Anne and her horses I was able to look through the surface to the heart of what was going on. It was like the horse was a part of me; she was so majestic, so tender and soft. She was a mirror image of me.”

"Working with Anne allowed me to tap into some emotions that I can work on in my personal and professional life."

"My experience watching a client participate in Insight Equine Therapy was truly amazement!  It was clear that this modality allowed the client to get to the root of what she was struggling with in a few minutes versus a few sessions."

"My Insight Equine Therapy experience validated for me the limits, at times, of talk therapy and needing other modalities to maximize treatment benefits."
